The English department is a successful and ambitious one, with a track record of very good GCSE results. There are 7 full-time and 4 part-time staff. The department is well resourced and caters to the full range of ability. The department has a high profile in the County and has actively engaged in pioneering work, both at County Level and with QCA (The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority - for more information, click here).

Drama is taught as a discrete subject at GCSE and within English at KS3. It is also offered as an extra-curricular activity in the form of the annual school production and residential & day or evening theatre trips which are open to all year groups. Drama also works closely with the music department over the course of the year.
