History is a well-resourced department with a good record of GCSE examination results. The department uses a variety of teaching approaches, making good use of ICT and the wide range of sources available in the school's Learning Resources Centre, as well as role-play activities and class debates. Students are actively encouraged to pursue their historical interests outside the classroom via visits such as one to the Imperial War Museum as part of their World War I studies in Year 9 and a History Museum Project conducted during the summer in which they move from Year 7 into Year 8.
