In both recent OFSTED reports (2002 and 2007), Warden Park was acknowledged to be an inclusive school. What this means is that we place students at the very centre of all we do and take every possible opportunity to meet their needs within the constraints of affordability.
How this works out in practice is that, for example, we support sixty or more students (10% of year 10 and 11) to attend a work related learning at a College of their choice. We provide support from our dedicated team of teaching assistants to meet the needs of students who require extra help on a temporary or permanent basis during transition from primary schools, to Further Education College or for their time at Warden Park. We work with all our local schools to ensure that we share good practice, learn from each other and provide extra support from our team of qualified learning mentors who are currently leading similar developments in the rest of the County. We also work closely with other agencies like health and educational welfare who can bring their own skills and expertise to bear.
Since the publication of the Children Act (2004) the school has reorganised so that we can embrace the national and local Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda and fully subscribe to the 5 ECM criteria:
• Be Healthy
• Stay safe
• Enjoy and Achieve
• Make a Positive Contribution
• Achieve Economic Well-being
