Active Citizenship in KS3

Spring Fair
During the Spring Term the Year 7s organise a Spring Fair. This was hugely successful last year raising over £1000 for the house charity which was the local A&E department. This year the students will be raising money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity. Parents and members of the local community will also be invited to attend the fair which is being held on the 31st March 2010. There will also be a raffle which last year was very popular. If you feel you could contribute in any way please contact Miss H Connor, Director of Citizenship, RE and Enterprise. ( hconnor@wardenpark.co.uk )
Heroes
In year 8 the students follow a course on heroes in their world. They will study people in our world who are seen as heroes and then they are asked to be a hero in their community. This year some of the students will be focussing on being eco heroes and trying to help our environment.
Change the World
In year 9 students are asked to change the world. This can be on a small scale or on a large one. Last year many students took part in a Pay it Forward campaign based on the film with the same name. This scheme requires people to help someone who in turn pays the help forward by helping someone else. We had emails from many people who advised us that the students had completed many tasks such as gardening and cleaning cars to making breakfast in bed.
All students are also encouraged to raise money for their house charities.
