Visit by local author Joshua Raven

On Tuesday 20th October, local author Joshua Raven visited the school. He spent time talking to classes of Year 8 students about his debut novel ' 5fingers Initiation: Descent into Darkness' and the stages he went through from his initial idea for a series of novels to the finished and published book. After listening to him reading extracts from his book and how he sets about developing his ideas students were able to ask him questions about the writing process.

Much to their delight students were each given a copy of his novel to take away with them afterwards and many requested that he signed it for them at the end of the lesson.

Following his visit, many of the students have been working on follow up work during their English lessons. One of the students who has subsequently finished reading the book commented that it was 'really, really good - a kind of adventure type story.' Copies are available from the LRC for any other students who may wish to read it.
