Composition of the Governing Body

By Gill Charles

Who is on the Governing Body?

Warden Park is a specialist school (Mathematics, ICT and Modern Foreign Languages) and the governing body has representatives from all stakeholder groups.  There are 16 governors from the following groups:

Parent Governors: Six parent governors are elected by the parents and carers.

Staff Governors: Four staff governors, one of whom is the headteacher and one of whom represents the non-teaching staff, are elected by the staff.

Community Governors: Three community governors are appointed by the governing body.

Local Authority Governors: Three local authority governors are appointed by the local authority.

All governors serve a four year term of office except for the headteacher who holds office for as long as s/he is in post.

The governing body subscribes to the local authority training and development programme for governors and all governors are expected to attend both induction and on-going training sessions.

More in depth information including The Governing Body Constitution which details how the Governing Body is run, the Scheme of Delegation outlining the responsibilities of the Standards and Resources Committees and a list of the current Governors can be found in the Governing Body Documents section.
